Why a step works—and when it does not
High walls catch urine and scatter. They also block a stiff hip. A detachable step splits that conflict: containment on three sides, a staircase on the fourth. Texture on the tread helps claws. - Keep litter two to three inches so they are not hopping onto bare metal.
- Scoop daily. A crust at the top of the stairs is a reason to turn around.
- Wash the step and the pan. Urine on treads is how steel gets slick.
